<B>1879-S S$1 MS68 PCGS.</B></I> While the surfaces are extraordinarily clean with the lustrous surfaces one expects, this coin's strong suit is derived from its spectacular reverse toning, explaining why it is encapsulated reverse-up. The entire reverse is shaded from deep emerald-green to crimson to yellow-gold in a fantastic panoply of coloration. The obverse is almost brilliant with just the slightest hint of color along the left rim. The design elements on both sides are fully struck, and the surfaces exhibit slight evidence of a mirrored or prooflike finish.
