<B>1879-S $2 1/2 MS61 NGC.</B></I> Although not considered a great rarity in the series, it has a low a mintage of 43,500 pieces and is certainly not common in the better grades of AU and higher. In Mint State, it is infrequently offered and in fact, NGC has graded only four examples MS61 and seven finer (11/07). This specimen displays elegant pink-gold surfaces that are laced with wisps of reddish-orange, and there is plenty of luster to admire.
