1879 S$1 Morgan Dollar, Judd-1616, Pollock-1812, R.6-7, PR64 Red and Brown NGC. The obverse depicts the regular dies design for the Morgan dollar, while the reverse features an eagle with spread wings holding an olive branch in its right talon and three long arrows in his left. Above is the legend UNITED STATES OF AMERICA and the motto E PLURIBUS UNUM. ONE DOLLAR is below. An interesting combination of a double usage of E PLURIBUS UNUM on both sides. Struck in copper with a reeded edge. Deeply mirrored in the fields and very bright overall with nearly complete mint red remaining on each side and a light speckling of blue-brown patina scattered randomly over both obverse and reverse. An awesome copper Dollar pattern and one that will surely bring a strong price at auction.Ex: Lawrence Westbury Collection (Robert Hughes, 4/79), lot 919.
