<B>1879 S$1 Metric Dollar, Judd-1617, Pollock-1813, R.4, PR63 PCGS.</B></I> Liberty wears a coronet with a border of pearls. The elaborate reverse presents a partial wreath of cotton and corn tied at the base, a ribbon, and DEO EST GLORIA on a tablet above. Perhaps one of Chief Engraver William Barber's final designs, since he died in 1879 and was replaced by his son Charles. Struck in silver (or goloid) with a reeded edge. This glossy and meticulously struck specimen features lemon-gold, ruby-red, and sky-blue toning.
