<B>1879-S $1 MS68 NGC.</B></I> Early S-mint dollars are often used for type coins, and for good reason. They are undoubtedly the best-produced dollars in the entire series, and because so many were set aside they are also occasionally available in high grades. This is an exceptionally attractive coin that has nearly perfect surfaces. The fields have a confirmed reflectivity, perhaps not enough to warrant a Prooflike designation, but definitely enough to provide a black backdrop for the frosted devices. Fully struck, of course.
