<B>1879-O $20 VF30 NGC.</B></I> A popular and elusive issue, the 1879-O is the only Type Three double eagle struck at the New Orleans Mint, and a low-mintage emission as well with only 2,325 pieces coined. This specimen is about typical of surviving pieces, most of which are Very Fine or Extremely Fine. Considerable semiprooflikeness is visible on the yellow-gold surfaces, with a couple of small areas of dark coppery toning on the reverse, and there are no singular abrasions.<BR><BR><B>Coin Engraver:</B> James B.
