1879 G$1 PR65 PCGS.<p>Ex: Bass. The description from the Harry W. Bass, Jr. Collection Part III read: "Very pale pinkish yellow gold with attractive cameo highlights. A few very faint hairlines are visible. A delightful example with extremely sharp design details. Possibly one of the 20 examples struck January 25, per note below. The remaining 10 coins were struck November 22. A few tiny raised rust lumps are visible on Liberty's neck. Raised die lines fill the upper loop of 8 and the loop of 9, as well as the left and right ribbon bows. Walter Breen noted that 20 Proofs struck January 25 had crisscross die lines filling the interior space of the left ribbon bow, while those struck November 22 had this area polished.
