<B>1879-CC S$1 MS64 Prooflike PCGS.</B></I> Whatever twists and turns the coin market takes, Carson City coins rarely fall out of favor, and although Van Allen and Mallis claim that "a fairly large percentage" of Mint State pieces have fully prooflike surfaces, such pieces are themselves difficult to find, and minimally abraded examples harder still; thus, pleasing high-grade examples such as this are surprisingly elusive. The brilliant fields encroach on Deep Mirror territory, and there is considerable mint frost on the devices, which gives the coin pronounced two-toned contrast. Suitably defined with only slight abrasions and luster grazes that prevent a full Gem grade.
