<B>1879-CC S$1 MS63 PCGS.</B></I> The Clear CC variety. David Bowers (2005) estimates that hundreds of thousands of 1879-CC dollars (with a mintage off 756,000 pieces) were probably melted under the 1918 Pittman Act. He also indicates that the issue " ... is the second rarest (after 1889-CC) of all Carson City Morgans." Some prooflike tendencies are noted on the untoned, lustrous surfaces of the Select example in this lot, and sharp definition is apparent throughout. Moderate marks on Liberty's cheek account for the grade.
