<B>1879-CC S$1 MS63 Deep Mirror Prooflike PCGS.</B></I> To underscore the rarity of the 1879-CC dollar with Deep Mirror fields, this is the first example we have offered at public auction since January 2006. Only a few dozen pieces are known in MS63 with another three dozen or so in higher grades (the finest are three MS65 coins). This is a stunning piece, and the collector should not let the fact that it is "only" an MS63 discourage him from aggressively bidding on this rarity. The fields are deeply mirrored on each side and the thick mint frost that CC dollars are known for provides stark white-on-black contrast. Sharply, but not completely struck up in the centers. The surfaces are brilliant throughout, and there are a few light abrasions and luster grazes that one would expect from a coin in this grade. The Deep Mirror Prooflike dollar collector may have to wait quite a while before such an opportunity is present once again.
