Although the 1879-CC was once considered more common than the 1881-CC or 1885-CC dollars, the 1960s inventory of Treasury uncovered only 4,123 pieces of the issue, according to Rusty Goe's <I>The Mint on Carson Street.</B></I> This piece shows a few abrasions on Liberty's cheek and the eagle's breast that account for the grade.
