1879-CC S$1 Capped Die MS63 PCGS. VAM-3. A Top 100 Variety. The 1879-CC was scarce when it was struck and few had been seen by the time Augustus Heaton wrote his 1893 book Mint Marks. It has remained a semi-key among Morgan dollars with nowhere near enough available to satisfy even Carson City collectors, much less collectors of the series in general. This is a lovely, high-end example that has thick, frosted mint luster over both sides. Only the slightest abrasions or luster breaks account for the grade. A bit softly detailed in the centers. Almost brilliant with just the slightest hint of rose toning present.

Shipping: Coins & Currency (view shipping information)
