<B>1879 50C PR66 Cameo PCGS. CAC.</B></I> Type One Reverse, distinguished by the open bud above the H in HALF. This is the scarcer of the two varieties. An immensely popular date, the 1879 is the first of the low mintage Seated half dollars produced through 1890. The present Premium Gem proof is one of just 1,100 pieces produced, and it is an essentially brilliant specimen. Both sides are appreciably contrasted with crisply impressed devices and few abrasions of any kind. The drapery at Liberty's right (facing) elbow has been mostly removed by die polishing. We note a small dark spot at Liberty's midsection.
