<B>1879 50C PR62 Cameo PCGS.</B></I> Type One Reverse. Randy Wiley and Bill Bugert (1993) say of the 1879 half dollar that: "Despite the low mintages (4,800 business strikes and 1,100 proofs) proof and business strikes of this date are available for a price ... as they were saved at or near the time of issue by collectors because of anticipated low mintages." The authors' comments notwithstanding, PCGS and NGC have seen only about 60 proofs with the Cameo designation. This PR62 Cameo displays light tan color around the borders, along with sharply defined design elements.
