1879 10C MS67 NGC. Greer-101. This year began a run of low mintage Seated Liberty Dimes that would continue through 1881. The Philadelphia Mint was the only coinage facility active in Dime coinage during this period, and it delivered just 14,000 business strikes and 1,100 proofs in 1879. One of the most visually appealing survivors of the former delivery that this cataloger has seen, this coin is richly toned in antique-gold colors with splashes of cobalt-blue and salmon-pink patination. The finish is noticeably prooflike, particularly on the reverse, and the devices are boldly, if not sharply struck throughout. We anticipate significant bidder competition for this Superb Gem from collectors of originally preserved, high quality Seated coinage. Population: 18 in 67, 3 finer (11/02). Important notice: We expect to be auctioning lots at the rate of 200-250 per hour. Sometimes eBay Premier live bid software cannot keep up with that pace, so we strongly recommend that you place a realistic proxy bid now as insurance to avoid disappointment. Also please note that all Heritage/CAA lots purchased through eBay Premier carry a 20% Buyer's Premium. Please make sure you read the Terms and Conditions.
