1879 $1 Morgan's Liberty Head Silver Dollar, Judd-1612, Pollock-1808, Low R.7, PR65 Red and Brown NGC. This is the familiar Morgan design obverse, famous from the regular issue silver dollar of the same design. Liberty faces left, wearing a cap with a coronet inscribed LIBERTY and garnished with wheat and cotton. The motto E PLURIBUS UNUM appears above the head with the date below, seven stars to the left and six stars to the right. The reverse has the legend UNITED STATES OF AMERICA above an eagle with wings spread, holding three arrows and an olive branch. The ONE DOLLAR denomination is placed along the lower border. Struck in copper with a reeded edge. The Morgan Liberty Head design was used on regular issue silver dollars from 1878 to 1921 and made its first appearance on 1877 pattern half dollars. A pleasing example with pale olive and light champagne toning.
Ex: Bowers and Merena (9/2001 11/01 ), lot 155.
From The Jones Beach Collection.

Shipping: Coin/Currency (view shipping information)
