<B>1878-S 50C --Reverse Re-engraved, Repaired, Cleaned--ANACS. VF30 Details.</B></I> A diagonal path of re-engraved detail covers portions of the olive branch, and the eagle's left (facing) leg, shield, and right wing. The field near the eagle's head and left scroll end is smoothed, and other areas of the reverse field suggest careful tooling. Still an authentic survivor of this rare and famous Seated issue. Only 12,000 pieces were struck, most of which were melted or lost long ago.
