1878-CC<50C> XF40 PCGS. Toned in light steel-gray shades with flashes of antique-golden and blue color about the peripheral areas. The 1878-CC is one of the scarcest Half Dollars from the Carson City mint. Most of the 62,000 pieces originally struck were melted for recoinage as Silver Dollars due, in part, to the Bland-Allison Act of 1878. Survivors are most often well circulated, so this offering of an XF example is very unusual.
