<B>1878-CC $5 XF40 NGC.</B></I> Subdued orange-gold color is evident on both sides of this lightly circulated half eagle. This date is rare in all grades and is usually found with considerable wear, as Jeff Garrett and Ron Guth point out: "Most of the known 1878-CC half eagles grade Fine to Very Fine." Even at this XF40 grade level, not many have been certified any finer.
