1878-CC 10C MS62 PCGS. Type Two Reverse, Fortin-1
1878-CC<10C> MS62 PCGS. Type Two Reverse, Fortin-104. Peripheral lilac toning takes on deeper shades on the obverse. There is a hint of reflectivity in the fields, which along with the mild frostiness on the motifs gives an overall cameo-like appearance. Well struck, however, excessive die polishing has removed portions of the wreath. A few scuffs and luster grazes are seen in the obverse fields, but this coin appears to have fewer marks than what might be expected for the grade level. Of the 200,000 coins minted, only 49 have been graded by PCGS in all grades (3/05). A lovely example of the last dime struck at the Carson City mint.
From The Tim Cook Collection of Liberty Seated Dimes.
