1878-CC $10 AU53 NGC.
1878-CC $10 AU53 NGC. A very elusive Carson City ten that sports a low mintage of only 3,244 pieces. From the original mintage one can immediately deduce that this is an important rarity, but it is also a significant condition rarity that is seldom seen above VF (when seen at all). In AU the '78-CC is now considered a mid-R.6 issue with an estimated 20 pieces believed extant. The bright semi-reflective reddish-gold surfaces are typically abraded for a coin that spent a brief time in the channels of commerce. The diagnostic "bar" is seen on the lower neck of Liberty as well as the die clash marks on the reverse--all assurances of the coin's status as a product from the Carson City mint. A thin, horizontal mark is noted from star 2 to Liberty's throat. Just a bit softly struck, as usually seen on this important Carson City issue. Population: 2 in 53, 8 finer (11/03). Important notice: Heritage usually auctions material at the rate of 200-250 lots per hour. On some occasions eBay Live bid software or the Internet may not be able to keep up with the pace of the auction. We recommend placing a realistic absentee bid now as insurance to avoid disappointment. Occasionally the auctioneer may eliminate or reject an eBay Live bid, and the auctioneer may also reopen a lot after the close of the eBay live bidding (usually because we missed an audience bid), and may reject your bid even if it shows you as the winning bidder. By bidding via eBay Live, you agree that Heritage may award the lot to another bidder at its sole discretion under the circumstances described above or any other reasonable circumstances. Also please note that all Heritage lots purchased through eBay Live carry a 20% Buyer's Premium. Please make sure you read the Terms and Conditions before you bid.
