The lowest feather is the longest under the eagle's left (facing) wing, and LIBERTY is lightly die doubled north. This coin has a tale of two sides: The stunning obverse on its own would rate at least a Cameo designation, with prooflike fields, not so the reverse. A couple of small abrasions on Liberty's cheek likely account for the grade. The reverse offers much less contrast between fields and devices, and has a few more light abrasions, although still undistracting. If the reverse were a closer match to the obverse, this coin would likely garner at least an MS67 grade. However, the eye appeal is still enormous for this, the nation's first Morgan dollar.
