<B>1878 8TF S$1 MS66 PCGS.</B></I> VAM-14.1. This example illustrates the first issued design type of the Morgan dollar, with a flat breast on the eagle. For reasons unknown (endless speculation notwithstanding) the design was soon modified to show a more attractively rendered eagle with a "rounded" breast. This highly lustrous Premium Gem is an excellent representative of the type. It is well struck and untoned, and the only surface disturbances are a few inconsequential blemishes on the reverse that are barely noticeable. Housed in a PCGS holder with a light-green label; a lovely and conservatively graded silver dollar.
