<B>1878 7TF S$1 Reverse of 1878 PR64 NGC.</B></I> An estimated 250 to 300 proof 7 Tail Feathers Reverse of 1878 dollars were struck, with many unsold pieces being melted (David Bowers, 2006). Brilliant surfaces on the near-Gem for sale in this lot exhibit sharply struck devices, including excellent delineation in the hair over Liberty's ear, a characteristic uncommon to this variety (David Bowers, 2005). Moreover, noticeable field-motif contrast is evident when the coin is titled under a light source, another attribute ordinarily not seen on this issue.
