<B>1878 7TF<img border='0' src='http://www.heritagecoins.com/images/star.gif' width=10 height=10>$1> Reverse of 1878 MS66 PCGS.</B></I> The eagle's breast is fairly flat and the arrow feathers are parallel on the Reverse of 1878. This issue was struck in considerable numbers after the short-lived 8 Tail Feathers coins and the subsequent restamping of the 8 Tail Feathers dies with the 7 Tail Feathers hub, which created the various 7/8 Tail Feathers varieties. The Reverse of 1878 coins, which Bowers estimates at 7.85 million pieces, constituted the bulk of the mintage of 1878. Despite the large mintage, pieces in MS66 are elusive: NGC and PCGS combined have certified only 40 coins so fine, with none finer (9/06). This example offers brilliant silver-white surfaces with robust cartwheel luster and a minimum of abrasions. A nice one!
