<B>1878 5C PR67 NGC.</B></I> Though the previous year's proof-only issue amounted to a little over 510 specimens, the Mint produced 2,350 pieces for 1878, starting a trend of four-figure mintages that would continue for decades. A hint of greenish-gold appears at the upper obverse rim and a touch of ice-blue graces the fields, but the shimmering surfaces of this Superb Gem are otherwise untoned. Boldly defined and exquisitely preserved.
