<B>1878 3CN PR66 Cameo PCGS.</B></I> Besides the Mint Act of 1871 that eventually reduced the need for new coinage of minor copper and nickel coins, the Philadelphia Mint in 1878 had something new on its plate--the first-year coinage of Morgan silver dollars, which it produced to the tune of something over 10 million pieces between all varieties. This piece offers bold contrast between the fields and devices, with a bit of mottled russet-gray patina on each side. There is no obvious evidence of contact.
