<B>1878<$3> MS64 PCGS.</B></I> The appealing golden surfaces display the usual (almost diagnostic) swirling mint luster, with a slight accent of reddish patina around the margins. This piece is a bit weakly struck on the bowknot on the lower reverse, as usually seen. There are a few small abrasions on each side, none of them singularly distracting, that keep this piece solidly in the MS64 grade range. The generous mintage in excess of 80,000 examples, combined with the numerous Uncirculated examples saved, ensure a steady supply of lovely pieces such as the present example. A good type-coin choice.
