1878 $3 MS64 PCGS. An appealing example of this, the most common date in the three dollar gold series, and as such a prime candidate for inclusion in a Choice or Gem type set. The average grade of certified examples is a bit less than MS60. As such, this example is not at all common, either numerically in terms of grade, or aesthetically in terms of eye appeal. The surfaces are a lush, mellow sunset-orange, with tinges of hazel on the highpoints of each side. Even under a loupe there are no mentionable post-strike distractions: A tiny dot behind the eye appears to be a minuscule planchet flaw. This high-end, extremely collectible piece is certified in a green-label holder.

Shipping: Coins & Currency (view shipping information)
