1878 $3 MS62 PCGS. An unworn representative of this later issue, one popular with type collectors. The devices exhibit above-average detail, and the vivid yellow-gold fields have splashes of aquamarine. While numerous small marks appear on each side and a handful of light, thin abrasions are present on the reverse, the piece retains considerable eye appeal. Purchased in the 1930's at face value by Karl Stecher Sr. from coins turned in by the public as per President Roosevelt's March 9, 1933 directive. Kraft envelope with notes "1878 3.00 proof (which is crossed out)" included with lot.
From The Stecher Collection.

Shipping: Coins & Currency (view shipping information)
