<B>1878 $3 MS62 NGC.</B></I> The three dollar gold piece lingered for 36 years of production. Only two later issues, the 1874 and 1878, have five-figure mintages; these issues, along with the 1854, are the most popular with type collectors. This attractive example has striking, original luster and pleasing detail.
