<B>1878 20C PR64 PCGS.</B></I> 1878 was the fourth and final year of the twenty cent denomination. Since business strikes ceased in 1876, the 1878 is a proof-only issue, and is quite scarce since just 600 proofs were coined. The short-lived type focuses proof demand on the 1875 and 1876 dates, but also creates a price floor for the two rare proof-only dates that follow. This decisively struck near-Gem has brilliant centers and russet-gold margins.
