<B>1877-S<50C> MS66 NGC.</B></I> Type One Reverse. The generous mintages of the 1877 P- and S-mint issues both ensured a supply of top-notch survivors and perhaps also served as a harbinger of things to come: Never again would Seated Liberty half dollar mintages approach those levels, and the 1878-S half is a legendary rarity in the Seated half dollar series. Much prooflikeness is visible underneath the lush toning that features shades of jade-green and ice-blue on each side. The strike is basically <I>full,</B></I> a feature that is seldom seen on these large coins, and close scrutiny reveals virtually no evidence of contact, save for a single small mark on the cheek.
