1877-S 25C MS67 PCGS. Briggs 1-A. Writing in 1991, Larry Briggs (The Comprehensive Encyclopedia of United States Liberty Seated Quarters) had this to say about the 1877-S: "One of the most common seated quarters in the series. Coin is readily found in any and all grades." We question, however, whether Briggs really meant to say "all" grades as the 1877-S is undeniably rare at the certified MS67 level of preservation. One of only two examples so graded at the major certification services (the other is at NGC, 1/03), this Condition Census Superb Gem is wonderfully original with reddish-gray central toning and halos of electric-blue color at the denticles. The pinpoint striking definition is free of criticism, as are the smooth surfaces. Worthy of a premium bid. Important notice: We expect to be auctioning lots at the rate of 200-250 per hour. On occasion eBay live bid software cannot keep up with the pace of the auctions where 4-5 lots per minute can hammer down, so we recommend that you place a realistic absentee bid now as insurance to avoid disappointment. Also please note that all Heritage/CAA lots purchased through eBay Live carry a 20% Buyer's Premium. Please make sure you read the Terms and Conditions.
