<B>1877-CC $5 AU50 PCGS.</B></I> The 1877-CC is a rare Carson City emission with a mintage of just 8,680 pieces. There were no gold collectors in the old West, and examples likely circulated until the 20th century. NGC has yet to certify any as Mint State, while PCGS has graded only two such pieces, one as MS60 (ex: Bass) and another as MS62. The present coin has light circulation wear, but the pink, orange, and olive surfaces retain ample luster. Moderately abraded near the chin.
