1877-CC 10C MS67 PCGS. The Carson City Mint produced 7.7 million Dimes in 1877, the second highest total for the denomination at the Nevada coinage facility. As one might surmise from this mintage figure, the 1877-CC is a common date, particularly in circulated and lower Mint State grades. At the Superb Gem level of preservation, however, this coin is represented by just 10 coins at NGC and PCGS, eight of which grade MS67 and two of which grade MS68 (4/02). The present survivor is richly endowed with swirling frosty luster. Delicate golden iridescence gravitates toward the borders, and the strike is needle sharp in all areas. The obverse displays evidence of having been struck from a rusted die, and there are also some stress cracks (as produced) around the periphery. A simply lovely coin that would fit nicely into an advanced CC-mint type set. Important notice: We expect to be auctioning lots at the rate of 200-250 per hour.
