<B>1877<50C> MS65 PCGS.</B></I> "Type II" variety as described in Walter Breen's <I>Encyclopedia,</B></I> with pointed berry above H in HALF DOLLAR. The frosty devices beautifully complement the satiny fields. Delightful gold, blue, violet, and gray toning enhances both surfaces. Most design features are sharp with the exception of a few strands of Liberty's hair and the eagle's right claw (viewer's left), both of which show slight striking softness as made. Although more than 8,000,000 examples of the date were struck, only a tiny portion were set aside at the time of issue, and accordingly, Gems such as this aren't easy to find. Population: 16 in 65, 12 finer (3/05).
