1877 20C PR65 PCGS.
1877 20C PR65 PCGS. The 1877 is the first of two proof-only issues at the end of the Twenty Cent series. Mint records show that 510 pieces were produced in this year. However, 160 coins were melted at year's end as unsold, leaving a net mintage of only 350 pieces. High grade examples (above the PR64 level) are very scarce with solid Gems rarely encountered. The fields on this piece are nicely reflective and richly colored, although somewhat differently hued from one side to the other. The obverse has mottled gunmetal-blue patina while the reverse, has a more even mixture of cobalt-blue and reddish-magenta color. There are no singularly mentionable marks or hairlines indicative of the grade. Population: 23 in 65, 7 finer (10/03). Important notice: Heritage usually auctions material at the rate of 200-250 lots per hour. On some occasions eBay Live bid software or the Internet may not be able to keep up with the pace of the auction. We recommend placing a realistic absentee bid now as insurance to avoid disappointment. Occasionally the auctioneer may eliminate or reject an eBay Live bid, and the auctioneer may also reopen a lot after the close of the eBay live bidding (usually because we missed an audience bid), and may reject your bid even if it shows you as the winning bidder. By bidding via eBay Live, you agree that Heritage may award the lot to another bidder at its sole discretion under the circumstances described above or any other reasonable circumstances. Also please note that all Heritage lots purchased through eBay Live carry a 20% Buyer's Premium. Please make sure you read the Terms and Conditions before you bid.
