<B>1877 $20 MS64 PCGS.</B></I> The first issue of the Type Three double eagle issues, with TWENTY DOLLARS in the denomination and IN GOD WE TRUST on the reverse. This piece truly is a phenomenal coin (a word that this cataloger uses sparingly). Any 1877 double eagle is scarce in Uncirculated condition, and most Mint State pieces are at the lower end of the Mint State spectrum. The present coin is bursting with vivacious, lively cartwheel luster radiating from the deep orange-gold surfaces. This piece is quite close to a Prooflike designation, and only a couple of reeding marks on the neck likely prevent a Gem grade.
