<B>1877 1C PR66 Red PCGS.</B></I> Despite a mintage in the neighborhood of 900 pieces that is consistent with the production of previous proof Indian cent issues, the 1877 is one of the most popular and costly dates for the series. Its association with the elusive and coveted business strikes of 1877, the premiere key date for the design, has ensured the proof coins' enduring popularity. Their generally high state of preservation and superlative visual appeal also contribute to their appeal, since attractive proofs are more readily available than similarly preserved business strikes.<BR> The obverse and much of the reverse are copper-orange, while deeper peach-rose shadings visit the right branch of the wreath and the adjacent fields.
