<B>1877 1C PR65 Red PCGS.</B></I> The beginning Indian Head cent collector learns almost immediately, that the 1877 cent is one of the low mintage keys to the series. As such, this date is desirable in any grade, yet by the time it reaches Gem quality with full red color, the price can be prohibitive to many collectors. Proof coins of the date, struck in much smaller numbers yet preserved significantly better as a rule, have become a reasonable alternative to the collector who wishes to have a high quality 1877 cent in his collection.<BR> This coin ranges in color from gold in the fields, tinged with a touch of green on the reverse, to bright orange-red near the lettering and the wreath. The fields are moderately reflective, with limited device to field contrast, completely in line with the lack of Cameo designation. Striking details are expectedly full for this proof coin.
