1877 1C PR64 Red and Brown PCGS. Here it is, the key issue to the Indian cents, an appealing example in a collectible grade that will save the lucky top bidder thousands of dollars over a fully Red or strictly Gem coin. This specimen comes so close in both directions, with lovely cameo-effect fields on both sides (although not noted on the holder). The color ranges from fully red to magenta to burnt orange, with some brown and sea-green on the Indian's highpoints. The couple of contact marks on the Indian's cheek, neck, and jawline are trivial, but among the few mentionable distractions. Boldly struck, with local weakness on the right (facing) shield border and the utmost tops of the wreath, from the Bulged T reverse, first used to strike proofs in 1872. The right serif of the T in CENT is in much higher relief than other parts of that letter. In an old-style PCGS green-label holder. PCGS has graded 55 examples higher (1/06).
