1877 1C PR64 Red PCGS. It is curious that such a popular issue as the 1877 cent does not have an exact mintage figure known for proofs. Nevertheless, whatever the mintage figure is, it is insufficient for the demand placed on this key date. This piece is struck from the more frequently seen reverse die with the bulged right pendant on the T in CENT. The surfaces retain most of the original, bright orange-red color with faint streakiness. A few tiny carbon spots are scattered over each side and account for the less-than-Gem grade.

Coin Engraver: James B.
