1877 1C MS64 Red PCGS. Richard Snow (2006) writes: " ... the purported original mintage of this date (852,500 business strikes) appears to be way too high compared to the number of observed surviving examples. An upper estimate of 200,000 coins struck seems more accurate." The near-Gem example in this lot displays lustrous copper-gold surfaces devoid of any abrasions or unsightly spots, though for complete accuracy we mention some scattered light flecks on the reverse. Occasional minor strike softness is noted, including incomplete definition on the diamonds. This is not unusual, as Snow indicates: " ... the diamond detail for this issue is typically shallow." Housed in a green-label holder. Population: 40 in 64 Red, 27 finer (6/07).

Shipping: Coins & Currency (view shipping information)
