1877 1C MS64 Brown PCGS. A pleasing near-Gem repre 1877[1C] MS64 Brown PCGS.
1877<1C> MS64 Brown PCGS. A pleasing near-Gem representative of the issue, this coin displays medium intensity olive-brown patina, with substantial deep purple-rose and icy-green undertones on the obverse. Both sides are sharply struck throughout with no abrasions that are worthy of mention. A pair of faint die clash marks (as struck) are evident on the upper reverse, just above the O in ONE and just to the right of the shield, respectively. There are a few swirls of deeper color on the reverse that seem to rule out a Gem grade assessment. This date in this grade is undoubtedly one of the most coveted of all 19th century U.S. minor coins. One of only twelve pieces to have been so graded by PCGS (08/05), and there are only three pieces finer, with the Brown color designation.
From The Gene Bernard Collection.
