1877 $10 AU58 PCGS. The 1877 Eagle was a well known rarity throughout the 20th century, long recognized and justified by its mintage of just 797 business strikes. Only the similar mintage 1875 and even tinier production 1873 are scarcer among Philadelphia Mint Eagles. The few surviving examples seem to evenly distributed among VF to low-end AU grades, and only a single Mint State piece, a PCGS MS60, has been certified. This Condition Census example, as can be expected from the brief utilization of the dies, exhibits more than a trace of prooflikeness in the protected areas of the fields. The only surface marks worthy of mention are a shallow cut to the right of star 4 and a cluster of small scratches on Liberty's jawline. An important offering for the serious Coronet Eagle collector. Population: 5 in 58, 1 finer (1/03). Important notice: We expect to be auctioning lots at the rate of 200-250 per hour. On occasion eBay live bid software cannot keep up with the pace of the auctions where 4-5 lots per minute can hammer down, so we recommend that you place a realistic absentee bid now as insurance to avoid disappointment. Also please note that all Heritage/CAA lots purchased through eBay Live carry a 20% Buyer's Premium. Please make sure you read the Terms and Conditions.
