1876 Winchester saddle ring carbine, .45-75 cal., 22" round barrel, British proofs, in very good+ to near fine original condition, serial #42992 (near Royal Canadian Northwest Mounted Police range). The barrel shows85-95% bright original blue, some slight erosion, toning right in the area of the barrel address. Crisp edges, very sharp. The breech is marked cal. 45-75 and the rear sight retains most of its original blue. The left side of the frame shows 75-85% original blue, the right side shows 50-70% blue that is still very bright with a couple areas that have flaked and now gone to a pleasing natural patina. The hammer and lever show50-70% case hardening, darkening and aging nicely. The stocks are very good+ to near fine with a couple of dings and mars. The butt plate shows 30-40% toning blue. The dust cover shows 75-85% blue, the top of therail shows most of its original blue. The rear band and front band show 50-70% toning blue. The action is crisp, the bore bright and near excellent. The left side of the butt stock shows a stamped number 39X. An
