Listed as Baker 427A in Rulau's reference book, <I>Medallic Portraits of Washington, Second Edition.</B></I> Obverse: head left in oval panel on a wreath, supported at base by an eagle with spread wings flanked on either side by winged cherubs holding a circlet of 13 stars over Washington's portrait and a palm branch in each of their free hands. Around: MDCCLXXVI. / First In War; First In Peace, First In The Hearts Of His Countrymen. Reverse: Allegorical group of five females, Columbia with cap in the center presenting wreaths to the personifications of Art and Mechanics on the left and Commerce and Agriculture on the right.
