1876 Colt New Line .22 Caliber Revolver
Colt New Line .22 Revolver in superb condition. The New Line .22 Rim Fire revolvers were only made from 1873-1877. This example with serial number 29691 was manufactured in 1876 and is in superb condition. The revolver displays nearly all of the factory bright nickel finish with only the slightest of edge wear. Importantly, it retains the crisp “acid etched” barrel marking “COLT NEW 22” on the left flat of the 2 ¼” barrel. With even light wear, this etching is easily obliterated and examples with full clear panels are extremely rare. Only a top condition New Line Colt will retain this important marking. The top of the barrel also retains the correct two line Colt markings and the left bottom of the frame below the cylinder retains the tiny and light “22 CAL” stamping. The varnished rosewood grips are excellent and the revolver functions correctly. The front sight has not been filed or altered and the
back and top of the hammer still show Colt factory fire blue. The New Line .22 was a short-lived pocket revolver that was popular with anyone needing a concealed handgun or a back up to a more powerful weapon. Because of their small size, these pocket Colts were often carried loosely which tended to rapidly wear the finish. This is a superb example of a 148 year old Colt in truly amazing condition that is worthy of the best firearm collection. The revolver weighs 6oz. Serial Number: 29691. This firearm qualifies as an Antique, and does not require FFL Transfer or NICS Background Check.
