1876-CC $5 AU58 NGC. Variety 1-A. A good deal of luster remains on this pleasing coin, which features only the slightest high point wear and semiprooflike fields that retain notable contrast with the devices. Medium gold in color and generally well struck, with full stars and only a bit of weakness near the bun and top of Liberty's hair, as often found. A couple of light abrasions are located to the right of Liberty's neck. The 1876-CC is the lowest mintage Carson City half eagle, and the major grading services have awarded mint state grades only four times, an MS61 to the Ashland City coin, and, according to Winter, varying grades between MS64 and MS66 to a single coin, which we have not seen. The half eagle collector interested in acquiring the finest available piece should consider this coin carefully. Census: 10 in 58, 3 finer (12/06).

Shipping: Coin/Currency (view shipping information)
